Since their founding in 1989, they have continually fought to dismantle the ways our society marginalizes people based on race, sexuality, and gender. Today, they build courage and foster connection among a multi-racial community of changemakers to secure the rights, recognition and resources all families need to thrive.

TV Santa Barbara's mission is to empower people to make media that matters. We do this by providing community members with access to the knowledge, resources, and tools to create and distribute their own original programming content. TV Santa Barbara works to advance community through media. We provide equity in access to media production technology for the creation, sharing, and consumption of knowledge and ideas. TV Santa Barbara provides the means for diverse individuals to tell their stories, hear each other’s stories, and create new stories together so what sets us apart may bring us together as one community.

Our mission is to advocate for civil rights, provide legal services and education, and build coalitions to positively influence and impact Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders and to create a more equitable and harmonious society.

The Stop LAPD Spying Coalition is engaged in community education, community organizing, coalition-building, and policy advocacy efforts focused on the goal to rescind Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Suspicious Activity Reporting (SAR) initiative and more broadly challenge LAPD surveillance, spying, and infiltration programs.

Freedom for Immigrants is a national network of 42 independent organizations that work to end the isolation and abuse of immigrants in U.S. immigration detention through visitation, independent monitoring, storytelling, and advocacy.

RYSE creates safe spaces grounded in social justice that build youth power for young people to love, learn, educate, heal and transform lives and communities.

Greenlining is the solution to redlining. We advance economic opportunity and empowerment for people of color through advocacy, community and coalition building, research, and leadership development.

[people. power. media] broadcasts efforts and perspectives from marginalized communities where grassroots organizations are working to change public policy. We currently focus on land use issues.

Dignity and Power Now (DPN) is a grassroots organization based in Los Angeles that fights for the dignity and power of incarcerated people, their families, and communities. In doing so DPN wages a fight for all lives because the prison industrial complex forms an imaginative limit on everyone’s capacity to envision freedom and liberation. Dignity and Power Now has several projects including an activist coalition, an artist collective, a zine, a research and reporting group, a leadership institute, and even a reentry program inside a state prison. Immediate campaign focuses include establishing comprehensive and effective civilian oversight of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and allocating the money from the two billion dollar jail plan into mental health diversion programs and community health centers.

Community Technology Network (CTN) unites organizations and volunteers to transform lives through digital literacy. We believe that access to the Internet is a human right and that those without the necessary computer skills are at risk of social and economic disadvantage. In partnership with open-access community computer centers across the San Francisco Bay Area, CTN delivers free computer skills programs to those in need. CTN also provides its partners with support, guidance, and resources to improve their digital literacy programs. At this time, a large proportion of CTN’s activity is focused on our SF Connected program, which serves older adults and adults with disabilities at senior centers throughout San Francisco. Read more about our programs at www.ctnbayarea.org. CTN engages approximately 200 volunteer computer trainers yearly, including students, working adults, job seekers, and retirees. Volunteers provide digital literacy training and tutoring to our community partners’ clients and/or additional services to CTN directly. Volunteer trainers are central to our organization, providing vital services that are key to our mission.

Access Humboldt is a non-profit, community media organization serving the residents of Humboldt County to build local voices through community media. We provide air time free of charge on the local cable TV channels and online, and offer media production training, facilities and equipment. We promote free speech and community media - by the people; for the people.

MA was founded with the belief that in order to ensure the free and unfettered flow of information and ideas necessary to maintain a truly democratic society, media must be accessible, accountable, decentralized, representative of society's diversity and free from covert or overt government control and corporate dominance. MA dedicates itself to fostering a genuine diversity of media voices and perspectives, holding the media accountable for their impact on society and protecting freedom of speech. Media Alliance is a leader in building coalitions for press freedom and media access, accountability and alternatives.

IDEPSCA works to create a more humane and democratic society by responding to the needs and problems of disenfranchised people through leadership development and educational programs based on Popular Education methodology. Specifically our goal is to organize and educate immigrants concerned with solving problems in their own communities.

TURN stands up for consumer rights, affordable rates and a more livable California. TURN challenges California’s powerful energy and telephone companies, saving consumers and small businesses millions, and demanding reliable service and environmentally sound policies. Our activities focus on three areas: • We advocate for fair prices. Our skilled legal team saves utility customers millions and advances groundbreaking policies and programs at the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) and the State Legislature. • We assist consumers with individual needs. Our consumer advisors help consumers understand their bills, challenge unjust utility company practices and access information about important money-saving programs. • We mobilize people statewide to take action for change. Our action team provides accurate and understandable information about critical energy and phone issues, and mobilizes people statewide for change through our campaigns.

The Ella Baker Center for Human Rights advances racial and economic justice to ensure dignity and opportunity for low-income people and people of color. We are building a people-powered movement to end mass incarceration, criminalization, and state violence by moving funding away from prisons and punishment and toward family-driven solutions that improve public health, safety, and prosperity for all communities.
