We help Southerners and their families navigate the pathways to access safe, compassionate, and affordable reproductive care by providing financial and logistical support and building power in our communities through advocacy, education, and leadership development.

The Racial Justice Action Center is a multi-racial TLGBQ people of color led organization building the grassroots leadership and power of communities of color and low income communities in order to fight for- and win- political and social transformation in Georgia and the South. We engage in generative, holistic grassroots leadership development, savvy organizing and strategic policy advocacy rooted in deep political and historical analysis in order to advance our vision of a transformed society, where justice exists for all people.

SONG is a home for LGBTQ liberation across all lines of race, class, abilities, age, culture, gender, and sexuality in the South. We build, sustain, and connect a southern regional base of LBGTQ people in order to transform the region through strategic projects and campaigns developed in response to the current conditions in our communities. SONG builds this movement through leadership development, intersectional analysis, and organizing.

Concerned Citizens for Justice (CCJ) was founded in 1982 in the wake of the Wadie Suttles case to address, publicize and protest police brutality in Chattanooga, TN. CCJ was reactivated in 2012 after the murder of Trayvon Martin by activists, students, union organizers in hopes of reenergizing the Black Liberation Movement in Chattanooga, TN.

Working Films builds partnerships between nonfiction media makers, nonprofit organizations, educators and advocates to advance social justice and environmental sustainability, and support community-based change.

The Ohio Valley Environmental Coalition's mission is to organize and maintain a diverse grassroots organization dedicated to the improvement and preservation of the environment through education, grassroots organizing and coalition building, leadership development and media outreach.

Appalshop is a non-profit, multi-disciplinary arts and education center in the heart of Appalachia producing original films, video, theater, music and spoken-word recordings, radio, photography, multimedia and books.

Alternate ROOTS supports the creation and presentation of original art that is rooted in community, place, tradition or spirit. Alternate ROOTS calls for social and economic justice and is working to dismantle all forms of oppression – everywhere.

Highlander serves as a catalyst for grassroots organizing and movement building in Appalachia and the South. Through popular education, participatory research and cultural work, we help create spaces — at Highlander and in local communities — where people gain knowledge, hope and courage, expanding their ideas of what is possible.

We work with movements to tell great stories that inspire, activate and enliven our democracy. We believe that social movements thrive and win when they draw on participants’ personal experiences and local cultures. By telling stories—whether in the form of performance, radio, video, or other media—movements build power, envision new democratic possibilities, and change culture and policy. Our work is located at the intersection of arts, technology, and policy.
