Problem
People of color own just 3 percent of our nation’s full-power TV stations, 7 percent of all full-power radio stations and just a few cable channels. As media consolidation moves more TV and radio stations into fewer corporate hands, our voices, perspectives, and stories are left out.
Solution
Ownership of media should be diverse and less consolidated. Media mergers between giant corporations should be opposed while efforts to build community-owned media and more diverse voices on the airwaves and online should be fully supported.
